DESCRIPTION

The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course is designed to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave, and learn about basic child care and basic first aid.

LENGTH

In person: 6.5 hours

intended audience

Anyone preparing for babysitting jobs or other positions that require them to supervise children in the absence of parents or guardians.

Prerequisites

None. There is no required age for participation; however, the recommended age is 11-15 years.

REQUIREMENTS

Participants must:

  • Attend the in-person session and actively participate in all course activities, including assuming various roles during skill practices and assessment scenarios.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills.

Upon successful completion, participants will be issued a digital certificate by email from the American Red Cross that does not expire.
